"What do I need to do my junior year in high school?"


You didn't really think being a junior meant being totally carefree, did you? Of course not! Hey, you don't have to worry about the big decisions until next year, but by keeping up on the following checklist, you can avoid missing some important deadlines and take a little pressure off of your senior year:

September:
____ Develop lists of your interests and review your high school course plans.
____ Learn about colleges.
____ Identify sources of college and career information.
____ Ask your high school counselor about the PSAT test in October.

October:
____ Take the PSAT test - don't forget your calculator!
____ Develop a list of classes you want to take in college.

November:
____ List the college features that suit your interests, needs and abilities.

December:
____ Plan to take SAT Subject Test. Talk to your high school counselor
                 or colleges of your choice about test requirements.
____ PSAT score reports will be received.
____ ACT Assessment Test. Ask your counselor for the date.

January:
____ Contact admissions offices of the college(s) you are interested in attending.
____ Request an application form and a campus interview.
____ Learn about the costs of attending each college.
____ Learn about the financial aid process.

February:
____ Learn about other student aid: scholarships, grants, etc.
____ Take the SAT Reasoning Test. Ask your counselor for details.
____ Tack the ACT Assessment Test. Ask your counselor for the date.

June - August:
____ Make an appointment with the college(s) you plan to attend for a tour, visit
                 or information session.

To find tips specific to each section of the ACT Assessment, familiarize yourself with the content of the ACT test and refresh your knowledge and skills in the content areas, and identify the content areas you have not studied, visit http://www.act.org.
