Bank of North Dakota (BND) made history on August 10, 1967 by making the first federally insured student loan in the United States! Since that day, BND has been instrumental in assisting students and parents with their pursuit of higher education. Our goal is to provide a competitive, low-fee loan program with great customer service.

BND is active in helping students and their parents get off to the right start early. BND partners with Student Loans of North Dakota (SLND) to bring RUReadyND, formerly known as Bridges Guidance Central, a software program with career exploration, education planning and test preparation tools, to every middle and high school in North Dakota.

We provide numerous educational publications to assist people with the education process. We also partner with many organizations across the state to work on issues such as financial literacy and access to higher education.
